Ash Wednesday Worship
Feb 14 @ 12:15 pm – 1:15 pm
Ash Wednesday Worship @ Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church | San Antonio | Texas | United States
Wednesday, February 14, is Ash Wednesday, marking the beginning of Lent. The day is named for the practice of applying ashes on the forehead of an individual in the form of a small cross as an outward sign of repentance and a powerful reminder of the meaning of the day. Ashes remind us of God’s condemnation of sin and our need to turn to Him for the forgiveness of all our sins. Please join us for worship services at 12:15 or 7 p.m.Share this:FacebookTwitterEmailPrint

Lenten Worship Service 12:15 pm
Lenten Worship Service
Feb 21 @ 12:15 pm – 1:00 pm
Midweek Lenten Services: Biblical Catastrophes Join us for Wednesday services during the season of Lent. Our theme will be biblical catastrophes – from Noah’s flood, to the prophet Joel’s locust plague, to Paul’s shipwreck. How do we as people of faith respond to disasters that hit us? The two service options will have the same message, but each has a style of its own. 12:15 p.m. – Jesus invites us to “Come away by yourselves to a secluded place and rest a while.” (Mark 6:31a) This midday break will have a traditional feel with hymns led by organ. 7:00 p.m. – Jesus says to us, ““Come to Me, all who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.”  (Matthew 11:28)  This is a time to lay the burdens of the day on the Lord. The service will include both historic and modern song selection with classical instrumentation led by piano and/or guitar. A meal will be offered beforehand.Share this:FacebookTwitterEmailPrint
